Born in Lafayette Louisiana in 1965, he grew up in the town of Kaplan Louisiana, that's about 30 miles south west of Lafayette. Along with 3 older brothers and one sister. He Boxed, made All State Team in football & basketball, joined a bicycling team in 1989 and turn pro in 1990 where he became known as one of the top U.S. Pro Cyclist, racing in U.S. and South America.
